What does this Course lead to?
On successful completion of this qualification, a learner can progress to employment, an apprenticeship, entry level employment in the IT sector or continue their study at university.

What will I study

Pupils will study four units which are:

  • Unit 1 – Information Technology System
  • Unit 2 – Creating systems to manage information
  • Unit 3 – Using social media in business
  • Unit 6 – Website development

What are the benefits of studying this course and what will I gain from it?

The objective for this course is for learners to have an opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in IT. This Supports further progression in creative media education, to an Apprenticeship or entry level employment in the IT sector.

They will gain experience of managing and communicating information and data, particularly in regards to social media. They will have knowledge of the principles of designing and developing digital technologies, and processes to support organisations. The qualification gives the knowledge, understanding and skills that a student needs to prepare for employment, as well as progression opportunities to university.

How will I be assessed

One practical externally assessed exam which is taken in Year 12.
Two internally assessed units taken over the course of years 12 and 13.
One mandatory unit which is assessed by external exam in Year 13.
